I got started with WordPress by building my own theme and page builder plugin. Since then I’ve had the pleasure of building many full custom website experiences for a variety of different companies.

I’ve been asked to build many sites with Divi and have gotten proficient at it but I prefer building custom themes with custom ACF Gutenberg Blocks. That allows for more easily customized page sections, and a minimalist approach to the code which loads faster on the front end and in the WordPress dashboard.

I also love adding new features to sites and troubleshooting complicated issues you might be having when part of your website breaks.

Here’s a link to my LinkedIn profile with some more details about my experience.

I look forward to working with you soon!

I'm a WordPress developer with more than ten years of experience, which I gained working for London-based agencies. In my career, I worked with a variety of clients, also blue-chip ones like corporates, well-known universities, and global organisations.
Can't wait to solve your WP related issue!

I AM SKILLED IN THE FOLLOWING:

✅ Semantic, valid HTML
To make sure your website loads correctly.

✅ Advanced CSS techniques (modular Scss, BEM methodology)
To be able to create modular, lightweight styling.

✅ JavaScript (jQuery, node.js tools)
To create dynamic functionality and be able to use advanced and modern front-end workflow.

✅ PHP (WordPress API)
To have your website correctly built on the most popular CMS in the world.

✅ Git
To manage your project professionally.

✅ CI/CD tools
To make it even better and more convenient if you need long-term support for your project.

I CARE ABOUT:

🚀 Performance optimisation (Google’s Core Web Vitals, image optimisation, caching)
To make your website loading lightning fast. As researches show, every additional second of page loading results in a significant visitor loss.

👁️ Accessibility
An accessible website is excellent for SEO and allows your visitors to see your website correctly.

🔍 Good SEO practices
To make your website appear high in search results.

🤩 Outstanding UX/UI
When I spot any potential User Experience or design issues, I inform you how you can improve things. I create Gutenberg Blocks, where possible, to allow for easy and intuitive content management in WordPress installation.

👌 Retina screen support (♥️SVGs and Lottie animations)
To make your site look crystal clear on any device.

👍 Seamless responsive design
Save your time and effort, as I know the potential problems that may arise at different resolutions, and fix them automatically.

🎖️ Low Technical Debt
I create custom themes based on the modular, well-structured and commented code, which can be extended easily in the future.

💬 Good cooperation
I deliver on time and with the best quality. I keep you in the loop, so you are aware of the project’s progress and can pass feedback as soon as possible.

⏱️ Saving your time
I use common sense and good practices where possible, but I ask the right questions to clarify unclear things.

🧡 Find out more about me, my work philosophy and projects on my personal site: https://www.lenesaile.com

My experience
—————————–
In the past 15 years I have designed and developed countless websites for small and medium-sized enterprises, freelancers, individuals, associations and foundations. I gained insight and experience in a whole range of creative work: UI/UX design, video editing, image manipulation, graphic design, editorial design, photography and UX writing.

My philosophy
—————————–
I love designing and developing especially for the needs of the customer. The websites I build are super fast, secure and they perform great in Google and other search engines. Also: websites should be fun! If your visitors feels completely comfortable and safe on your website, it’s much more likely that they will become your customers.
My way of working produces websites with a very small carbon footprint – my tiny contribution to making the internet more sustainable.

Working with WordPress
—————————–
WordPress and I have a long history together, I have built countless custom (PHP) themes and am very experienced in this area. Nowadays, lots of my projects are around transforming WordPress sites into the modern Jamstack architecture. Without losing previous SEO rankings – quite the opposite! The best thing is, you can still use WordPress as a “headless” CMS.

I create successful websites.
—————————–
The websites I build achieve top rankings, excellent scores in Core Web Vitals and reliably increase my clients’ success.
I work with attention to detail and care, with modern technology and the latest UI/UX knowledge, making sure that everything is completely optimized.

It makes me incredibly happy when my clients and I achieve a great result together!

The best website is a blank page. It’s the fastest, responsive, and secure!

Unfortunately, a blank page doesn’t accomplish your goals, so we won’t be making those. But it illustrates the famous proverb, less is more! Something I strongly believe in when it comes to websites.

A WordPress site running a custom-made theme is the best foundation you can have. Add to that a minimal use of images, fonts and JavaScript, and your website will still be flying even before we get to caching.

That doesn’t mean it has to be boring. The web has come a long way, and with SVGs, animations, and technology like grid and clip-path we can keep it interesting and beautiful, while staying fast.

In the backend of your site, speed matters less. There, the problem is clutter. Many plugins and themes think they do you a favor by showing lots of options. Even WordPress itself contains some clutter.

All those options can make the backend look scary. And even if you’re not afraid, you’re likely still searching for the right button longer than necessary.

Would you rather have the entire kitchen sink, or just the tools you need?
Let me build it, clean it up, and hand you your tools. Simplify your backend, and simplify your daily tasks.

That’s my pitch.

If you want a brand-new website, add new functionality with a custom plugin, or improve what you already have. I’d love to discuss your project.

Hi, Thanks for checking out my profile!
I have been working with WordPress since 2009.
In that time I have built websites for clients of all sizes, from bloggers & sole traders, to multinational corporations.

Prior to moving to web design & development, I spent eleven years in the print design industry – moving from printer, to pre-press to design, then senior design roles.

I love nothing more than sitting down with a large mug of coffee, writing code, and watching a site take shape on screen.

Although I have worked with many WordPress themes in the past, or building a custom theme from my own starter-theme. I am now gaining a preference for building FSE (Full Site Editing) WordPress themes. The gains in site speed and useability for the client far out-weight anything previously available.

I believe in ensuring all the work I do meets all accessibility requirements, is fast-loading and works on all modern devices and screen sizes.

If you think I can help you with a task or project, be sure to ask – happy to guide or make suggestions to help you.

I look forward to hearing about your project, and hopefully working together.

One night in 1996 while browsing this new “world wide web” thing, on a whim, I signed up for a free Angelfire account and stayed up all night to create my first website. I got in trouble with my parents because I tied up the only phone line in the house the entire night, but this ended up sparking my passion for studying, understanding, creating for, and improving the intersection between humans and technology to make ✨positive✨ change in the world. I bought an HTML book the next day and never looked back.

Now I’m over 20 years into a career with a skill set that doesn’t fit very well on paper. Let me explain…

Sure, I have an art degree that taught me how to be creative, but my background in engineering taught me about complex systems and testing.

Twenty-six years of programming shapes everything I design so development is as streamlined and cost-efficient as possible.

Running a successful business and getting a few startups off the ground makes me constantly aware of business goals, stakeholder relations, and growth-minded future thinking.

Teaching at the university level and mentoring peers helps me grow just as much as I train them. Speaking internationally has allowed me to encourage, inspire and help hundreds enact better, more accessible, and ethical design practices in their own lives.

Continuous study of technology, psychology, human behavior, social justice, cognitive bias, technology ethics, cross-cultural, cross-generational, and cross-ableness awareness drives everything I do.

In two decades I have led UX design for multi-million dollar big-data platforms for fortune 500 companies like Johnson Controls and Kohl’s, but put that same effort into every one of my 100+ clients, no matter the project size or budget. I guarantee it.

Hello from the Pacific Northwest! My name is Danielle and I am a designer and developer with a keen eye for detail and a heart for DIY. Once upon a time I was told “You cant be a designer AND a developer.” So I set my heart to it and did the impossible!

I got my baccalaureate degree in Visual Communication Design as well as a UI/UX certificate from Eastern Washington University. During my time spent at EWU my degree allowed me to focus on frontend development as well as print, graphic and logo design. Additionally I have been coding for nearly 15 years. I have done a lot of self learning, online courses and workshops to get where I’m at today. When I’m not doing freelance work I am helping other developers learn to code — I also teach an online coding bootcamp!

I have worked with several technology companies in the past doing both design and development work. I’m resourceful, innovative, and passionate about solving problems with beauty and function. My favorite part of what I do is helping others experience the world in an inclusive, meaningful, and more beautiful way.

My current pursuits include honing my skills, collaborating with other design and development professionals, and living my best life alongside my two dogs, Balthor and Bentley, in a school bus converted into a tiny home. If you’re interested in working with me, let’s talk!
